Repair / Assessment

Something’s wrong? Let’s narrow it down.

Start with what you’ve noticed. No diagnosis needed. Answer what you can, skip what you can’t, and we’ll review what you send. Initial review is free.

When hands-on testing is needed

If we need to examine your machine in person, we’ll explain the diagnostic fee before you decide. If you authorize a repair or maintenance service with us, that fee is credited in full toward the work.

No paid work begins without your approval.

That’s enough for us to take a look.

How should we get back to you?

A phone number or email is all we need. Everything else is optional.

From the bench

Presenting faults, work performed, and documented outcomes.

How review works

  1. Send what you know

A rough description and a way to reach you are enough to start.

  2. We review what you send

We may ask for photos or a detail or two where it would help.

  3. You decide

If hands-on diagnosis or repair makes sense, we’ll explain the cost and scope first. Nothing starts without your approval.

Based in Austin, Texas. If you’re farther away, you’re still welcome to start a review. Please don’t ship a machine until we’ve discussed the situation and agreed on shipping arrangements.

Questions people ask

What’s free, and what happens if I don’t approve a repair?

The initial review is free, whether you contact us through the form, by text, email or phone.

If your machine needs hands-on testing, we’ll explain the diagnostic fee and ask for your approval before starting. If you authorize repair or maintenance with Boiler & Burr, that fee is credited in full toward that work.

If you decide not to proceed with the repair — including if you’d rather do it yourself — the diagnostic fee covers the testing and our findings. You can also decline the paid diagnosis before it begins, at no charge.

Nothing paid begins without your approval.

What if my problem isn’t listed?
Choose “Something else changed,” or skip that question entirely. When we ask what the machine is doing, describe it in your own words — that’s enough to start.
What if a repair doesn’t make sense?
We’ll say so plainly, and explain why: the parts, the likely cost, or the machine’s overall condition. What happens next is up to you. If you’d like to consider selling it, we’re glad to talk that through.
When should I bring or ship my machine?
After a review, once we’ve agreed on a next step — not before. In the Austin area, seeing the machine in person is simplest. Farther away, shipping is considered case by case and arranged with you.
